Samsung Washing Machine Error Codes

If you own a Samsung washing machine that was bought from 2009 onwards then these codes may be of some use to you.

We have included these codes for guidance only, and assume you have a certain level of capability, and before you remove any panel from the machine you have disconnected it from the mains supply.

1E Water Level Sensor

This means the pressure switch that controls the amount of water in the drum.
Check the hose for any visible damage.
Check the hose for blockages.
Check the hose has not detached from the switch itself.
Check all connections on the switch.
Check the switch itself for damage.
If all these are ok you may have a control board fault.

3E Motor Tacho Fault Detected

Check the motor
Check the motor tacho
Check the connections to the motor.
Check connections to the control board.
Check main control board.
If fitted check the motor hall sensor.

3E1 Motor Overloaded.

You may get ths fault code if you have overloaded the washer.
Check the load size and reduce.
Motor hall sensor could be disconnected if fitted.
Could be main control board fault.

3E2 Motor Driving Error Code.

This is more than likely the main control board fault.

3E3 Motor Signal Error Code.

Main control board is receiving information from the motor that it does not understand.
Check motor hall sensor.
Check main control board and all connections from the motor.

3E4 Motor Fault Has Been Detected.

Faulty Motor
Faulty Main Control Board
PCB housing terminal.

4E Water Filling Time Out

Your machine has failed to fill up to correct level within 10 minutes.
If you press the start/pause button this error should be cleared and it should start to fill again.
Check water supply to machine, in winter it could be frozen
Check pressure switch and chamber for blockages.
Check inlet water valve.
Check wiring and connections to valve.
Check PCB

4E1 Incoming Water Temperature Problem.

This could happen as soon as you install your machine if the hot water hose is on wrong.
Check the hoses are connected the right way round
Check the incoming water temperature is no higher than 70c

4E2 Incoming Water Temperature Is To High.

Water temperature above 50c has been detected on the woolens and delicate programmes.

5E Washing Machine Has Failed To Drain The Water.

Check pump filter for blockages.
Check darin hose for blockages and kinks.
Check the pressure switch and hose for blockages.
Check pump and all wiring connections to pump.

8E Motor Error Code.

Check all the same things as error code 3E

9E1 Main Power Error Code.

Check the mains electricity supply.
Check the machine is not on an extension lead.
Check main control board.

9E2 Mains Voltage Error.

Same as Error code 9E1

PF Power Failure.

Most likely there has been a power cut and the machine has re started.

AE Communication Error.

If your machine has a main control board and another board this means the 2 are not communicating.
Check all connnections to all boards and visualy inspect the soldered joints.

bE1 Switch Or Main Relay Error.

Power button has been pressed for to long, over 12 seconds.
Main control panel is warped.
Screws holding main control panel to tight.

bE2 Any button has been pressed for longer than 30 seconds.

bE3 Main Relay Short.

Motor relay on control board has shorted.
Check control board.

CE Abnormal water Temperature Detected

If your inlet water temperature is above 55c this could be the problem, if not check the heater.
Check thermistor
Check connections.
Replace wash heater.

dE Washer Door Error Code.

Check door is closed and locked.
Check door handle.
Check door lock.
Check wiring.

dE1 Door Lock Error Code.

Check same as dE
Check main control board.

dE2 Stop playing with power button.

FE Fan error code.

Only for washer dryers.
Check fan motor.
Check fan motor wiring.
Check fan motor belt.
Check start capacitor.

HE Water heater error code.

Fault is on the heater or heater thermostat
Check heater for continuity.
Check thermistor thermostat for resistance.
Check wiring to heater and thermistor.

HE3 Steam Error Code.

Only applicable on machines with the steam function.
Most likely the steam generator.

LE Water Leak Error Code

Check for water leaks.

OE Over Filling Error Code

This is when the machine detects to much water, this can be caused by over filling or over dosing of powder.
Check for over foaming
Check drain hose.
Check pressure switch system.
Check water level sensor.
Check wiring to pressure switch and water level sensor.
Check main control board.

tE1 Water Heating Sensor Error Detected Code.

The water temperature is not correct.
Check wiring to thermistor or temperature sensor.
Check thermistor.
Check wiring to heater.

tE2 Duct Heating Sensor Error Detected Code.

Washer dryers only.
Check sensor in the fan duct
Check thermistor temperature sensor plug wiring.
Check thermistor is located correctly.

tE3 Same as tE2 Fault code.

UE Unbalanced Load Detected Error Code.

Re load the washing machine and re attempt to spin the washing.

SUD Too much foam detected error code.

You have probably used to much washing powder and products.
