Bosch Washing Machine Drain Pumps

Pumps to fit Bosch washing machines. The drain pump pumps the water out of the washing machine. It’s located at the bottom of the washer, usually on one side. It could be at the front if yours is fitted with a filter you can empty yourself, or at the back if not.

All pumps are model-specific, so the one you need depends on your exact machine. You’ll find the model number on the rating plate, which on most Bosch washing machines sits inside the rim of the door opening or on the back of the machine.

It usually begins with WA. Check that number before you order, because a pump made for one model won’t fit another.

Attached to the pump will be a sump hose, which comes from the bottom of the washing machine’s tub, and a drain hose, which takes the water away from the washer.

The drain hose either runs down a standpipe to an outside grate, or in most modern homes, attaches to the U-bend under your sink so the water flows away with your normal sink waste. There will also be electrical connections to the pump.

Check for blockages before replacing the pump

Pumps and hoses can become blocked over time, preventing the pump from expelling wastewater. It’s worth checking for these blockages before you decide you need a new pump, as a blockage will often be the real cause.

How to replace a Bosch drain pump

Replacement is generally easy. First, disconnect the washer from the mains supply, then empty the machine. Remove the pump’s hoses, then remove the screws or clips holding the pump to the cabinet, and it should lift away. Quite a few pumps come with the housing and filter attached, so you don’t need to buy lots of separate parts.
