Why is my Beko washing machine not spinning or draining?

There are a few reasons why this Beko washing machine might not be draining or spinning. The first reason is that there is something blocking the drain pump. This could be anything from a small piece of lint or maybe a coin that has become lodged in the pump filter.

If this is the case, we will need to remove the blockage before the washing machine will be able to drain properly.
We have previously removed the drain pump filter and could not see anything inside.

If the Beko washing machines drain hose is attached to a spigot underneath the sink its worth checking here as there could be a blockage, in our case this was not the problem.
Another reason could be that the pump has burnt out. This is a more serious problem that will require a new pump.

Finally, it’s also possible that there is an issue with the wiring or other components of the washing machine. We will check this when we remove the pump.

Beko Washing Machine Drain Pump

These are the steps we took to remove the drain pump form this Beko washer, the drain pump is responsible for getting rid of the water in your washing machine and is a vital part in your machine working correctly.

Firstly we have disconnected the machine from the mains supply and water supply also we have taken the drain hose out of the drain outlet and tilted the machine back against a wall to make access easier.

Next we removed the drain pump filter flap on this Beko and prised the kick plinth off of the bottom of the machine this is held on by clips, on some machines there may be screws holding this on but visually we could see it was only clips. The purpose of the drain pump filter is to trap lint, hair and other debris getting into the pump and clogging it up, it helps extend the life of the washing machines drain pump.

Now we can see the drain pump and its held on by a couple of screws we remove these and the pump can be lowered down.

Beko Washing Machine Drain Hose

The washing machine drain hose is an essential part of the Beko washing machine. It is responsible for draining out the water from the machine after each cycle. The hose is made of durable material that can withstand high temperatures and pressures. It is designed to be flexible and is usually grey in colour.

Next we remove the 2 hoses connected by clips to the pump these are just squeezed with pliers and pulled back, we now have access to the electrical connection to the pump so this is now un clipped and we can now remove the pump. We placed a bowl underneath the pump when we removed the hoses to catch any water that was left in the machine.

Beko Washing Machine Not Draining Here’s Why

When we have the pump off of the machine we can inspect it, the housing is very dirty inside and we found a coin that was stopping the impellor from turning so it could not expel the water, this coin was not visible when we removed the filter on first inspection.

Luckily for us this was all that was causing this E05 error code we didn’t need to buy a new drain pump. Replacement is a reversal of what we did to remove the pump and once we connected the machine back up to all supplies it worked as it should

Conclusion

Upon first inspection it did not appear the machine was blocked, experience told us that we needed to remove the pump to be sure, all work should be carried out by a suitably qualified person with the machine disconnected from the mains supply.
