Beko Washer Pumps

Beko Washing Machine Pumps: Information, Faults, and Tips
What Does the Drain Pump Do?
The drain pump removes dirty water from your washing machine after each wash and rinse cycle. It’s essential for proper drainage—if it’s blocked or faulty, your machine won’t be able to empty the drum, which can cause delays, leaks, or even damage. For a guide on replacing a Beko drain pump.
Common Problems with Drain Pumps
Water Not Draining from the Drum
If the drum still has water at the end of the cycle, it’s often due to a blocked pump filter, a kinked drain hose, or a faulty pump motor.
Unusual Noises During Draining
Grinding, buzzing, or squealing noises can mean the pump is struggling—perhaps due to trapped debris, worn bearings, or a failing motor.
Leaks Under the Machine
Leaks could come from a cracked pump, a damaged seal, or loose hose connections.
Cycle Stops or Won’t Finish
When the machine can’t drain, it usually pauses mid-cycle, waiting for the water to empty. It won’t move on to the next stage until this happens.
Error Codes Displayed
Some Beko models show an error code when drainage fails. Check your user manual or the manufacturer’s website to interpret the code correctly.
Diagnosing Drain Pump Issues
If the drum is full of water, check and clean the pump filter—usually found behind a small flap at the front bottom-right of the machine. Remove coins, lint, or buttons.
Inspect the drain hose for twists or blockages. Make sure it isn’t inserted too far into the standpipe or submerged in wastewater.
Listen for strange sounds during draining. A high-pitched whine or grind may point to a blocked or worn-out pump.
If the pump makes a sound but doesn’t remove water, the impeller (the small fan-like part) might be jammed.
How to Replace or Unblock the Pump
Unplug the machine and lay down towels in case of spills
Use the emergency drain hose or loosen the pump filter to let out any remaining water
Remove the kick strip or front panel to access the pump
Disconnect the wiring and hoses attached to the pump
Unscrew or unclip the pump and take it out
Check inside for debris and clean thoroughly. If damaged, install a genuine Beko replacement pump
Reconnect everything and run a rinse and drain cycle to check for leaks and proper operation
How to Prevent Pump Issues
Clean the pump filter every 2 to 3 months, especially if you wash items with zips, coins, or pet hair
Don’t overload the machine—excessive loads push more debris toward the pump
Always check pockets before washing to avoid clogging the filter with coins or small objects
